Arsenal are losing a lot of money for absolutely nothing these days. The Gunners are paying £350,000-a-week to Mesut Ozil who hasn’t played a single minute of football since Project Restart.

The German continues to divide opinion among Arsenal fans but Mikel Arteta has been pretty adamant that he will not select a player whose attitude isn’t right. Sadly, it seems like Ozil falls on the wrong side of that line.

The former Real Madrid man has been training with first-team for over a week now. Ozil, if he wants to, has the ability to be a hugely important player for the Gunners but Arteta seems to think that leaving him out is the best decision for the team at the moment.

That leaves Arsenal in a bit of a pickle now. The Gunners, like many other clubs, are struggling for transfer funds ahead of this summer’s window.

Ozil is the club’s highest paid player by some distance and if he remains on the sidelines, the mammoth figure Arsenal are paying him goes down as a waste.

Selling him will be extremely difficult

The Gunners will try to move him on this summer but it won’t be easy. No club in this financial climate will cover Ozil’s humongous wages which almost certainly rules out a permanent transfer.

The only way Arsenal can reduce some financial burden would be to loan him out. Thankfully for them, there is a club very interested in signing him on loan this summer.

Turkish outlet Haberler claim that Fenerbahce are willing to sign Ozil on a season-long loan deal. The Super Lig giants will offer £3 million-a-year of Ozil’s wages till his contract ends in 2021, something that would favour Arsenal financially.

However, Arteta claimed in his press conference ahead of the final game of the season that Ozil is available for selection. (Arsenal.com)

A couple of good displays in the final two games of the season, if he is selected, could completely change the Arsenal boss’ mind and he might well choose to keep hold of Ozil for another year.
