Arsenal could make a move for Brentford goalkeeper David Raya in the summer of 2021, according to The Telegraph.

It has been reported that Arsenal could go back in for the 25-year-old goalkeeper, having wanted to sign him in the summer of 2020.

The Sun reported in September 2020 that the Gunners were ready to pay £10 million for Raya as a potential replacement for Emiliano Martinez, who joined Aston Villa for £20 million.

Arsenal eventually signed Runar Alex Runarsson from Dijon in the summer of 2020.

Football.London reported in December that the North London club are exploring the possibility of bringing in a back-up goalkeeper.

Do Arsenal need a new goalkeeper?

Bernd Leno is the first-choice goalkeeper at Arsenal, and that is not going to change anytime soon.

Runarsson has played four times in the Europa League and once in the EFL Cup for the Gunners so far this season, according to WhoScored.

Of course, an injury to Leno could be an issue for the Gunners, but the North London club do have other areas to strengthen this month and in the summer of 2021, like the attacking midfield and adding more creativity to the team.

Raya would be a decent signing, especially if Arsenal can get him for £10 million in the summer of 2021, but the goalkeeper’s position should not be their main priority.
