Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are considering sending left-back Nuno Tavares out on loan for next season, according to The Athletic.
The Athletic are reporting this morning that Arsenal ‘have discussed the possibility of sending Nuno Tavares out on loan to aid his development’.
The left-back joined Arsenal from Benfica in the summer of 2021 for £6.8 million (The Guardian).
Tavares was brought in as a back-up to first-choice left-back Kieran Tierney, but the 22-year-old ended up making 13 starts and nine substitute appearances in the Premier League in 2021-22 due to injury problems for the Scotland international.
The youngster also made three starts and two substitute appearances in the Carabao Cup and made one appearance in the FA Cup for Arsenal this past season.

Arsenal should keep Nuno Tavares
In our view, Arsenal should keep Nuno Tavares in the squad and allow him to work on a regular basis with manager Mikel Arteta.
Yes, of course, Arsenal need an able back-up to Tierney, but if they send Tavares out on loan, then they will need to sign a replacement.
That will cost money.
What happens next summer when Tavares is back from his loan spell?
Arsenal will end up with more players at left-back than they need.
