According to a report by The Telegraph, Andre Onana’s asking price could be slashed even further if his ban is upheld, but any sanction against him isn’t going to affect Arsenal’s interest.

Onana was handed a long ban after a banned substance was found in his system, but he maintains that it was a mistake due to the fact he accidentally took some of his wife’s medication.

The Gunners have long been credited with an interest in the Ajax goalkeeper, and it was thought that he would cost around £7m, but if this ban is upheld, then he could move for even less than that.

Of course, there’s a reason for his value to drop. He wouldn’t be able to play any football until February 2022, but you have to say for less than £7m, he’d prove to be an absolute bargain.

This is a goalkeeper who placed in the top 10 of the Yashin Trophy voting back in 2019, while he’s also been described as ‘one of the best in the world’ in the past.

The north London outfit could certainly do with a new goalkeeper with Bernd Leno’s future being called into question, and signing Onana for less than £7m would be one of the best signings you’re likely to see.

It all hinges on the crucial hearing for Onana’s appeal, but even if his ban is shortened, he would be available for £7m, which isn’t a bad price at all.

Edu and Mikel Arteta are bound to have a keen eye on Onana’s hearing, and if his ban is upheld, they could end up signing him for less than £7m
