According to a report from AS, Arsenal could complete the signing of Lucas Vazquez early next week if the Gunners can convince him with a lucrative offer.

The report states that Vazquez will cost Arsenal an initial £28.7 million with a further £2.7 million in add-ons if a deal was to go through. The Spaniard is being courted by the Gunners on the request of Unai Emery who clearly sees something in the 28-year-old attacker.

Arsenal have been in dire need of a new winger after having just Alex Iwobi as their natural wide player last season. Iwobi, despite some criticism, did well for most parts of the season but his decision making in the final third has been his biggest let-down.

Emery has also tried his luck with the likes of Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on the flanks but their tendency to drift inwards on a consistent basis has deprived the Gunners of width in their attacking game.

The addition of an out and out winger in Lucas Vazquez would be brilliant for Arsenal and the Spaniard would fit in well under Emery. The addition of Rodrygo and Eden Hazard combined with Vinicius’ improvement on the flanks will hurt the Spaniard’s chances of regular game time and a move away suits all parties involved.

Vazquez will bring in a ton of experience to Arsenal having played over 200 senior club games in his career so far. The Spaniard’s work ethic will suit Emery’s style and his ability to both create and score will help the Gunners solve a key issue in their attack next season.
