According to Football.London, Arsenal considering a move to sign Newcastle United goalkeeper Freddie Woodman.

The Gunners host Newcastle in the Premier League on Monday night, and it seems that they’re eyeing a raid on the Magpies.

Arsenal are looking to add another goalkeeper, and Newcastle talent Woodman is one of the names on their wish list.

Woodman is on loan at Swansea City right now though, meaning a deal for the 23-year-old this month may not be possible.

Still, Arsenal are looking at Woodman for the summer, with his father Andy currently the Head of Goalkeeping at the Emirates Stadium.

Woodman has impressed in 18 months on loan at Swansea, and it’s unclear whether he will get a chance to shine at Newcastle with Martin Dubravka and Karl Darlow both at the club.

A move to Arsenal wouldn’t really help his pursuit of first-team football though, as he would merely be sat behind Bernd Leno for the foreseeable future.

That’s something for Woodman to consider if Arsenal come calling, as slipping back into a backup role after 18 months starting for Swansea won’t be easy for him.
