Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the Gunners have completed the signing of the highly rated Greek defender Konstantinos Mavropanos from PAS Giannina.

The Guardian reported on Wednesday that the 20-year-old has travelled to London to complete the move after a fee of £1.9m has been agreed between the two clubs.

Arsenal's French manager Arsene Wenger looks on during the English Premier League football match between Arsenal and Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium in London on January 3, 2018.

Wenger has confirmed after Wednesday’s Premier League clash with Chelsea that Mavropanos is north London-bound. He also added that the Arsenal fans will have to wait to see him in the first team as the Gunners are planning to send him on loan straightaway.

“Yes [the signing is complete], but he’s not ready to play,” Wenger said after the match, as quoted by Goal.com. “He will go out on loan.”

Mavropanos is regarded as one of the best defenders to emerge in Greece in a long time. He is a physically strong player, quick, effective in the air, and should do well in the Premier League.

He has made tremendous progress over the last few years, but needs to work hard on the tactical side of the game to improve his chances of playing for the Arsenal first team.
