According to The Telegraph, Arsenal are close to agreeing a new contract with goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez despite rival interest.
It’s claimed that Martinez is all set to sign his new deal imminently, ruling out an exit from the club any time soon.
Martinez still has two years left on his deal, but Arsenal are offering him proved terms for two reasons – partly because of interest from other Premier League clubs.
This is also because Martinez has earned it, having excelled in goal for Arsenal since Bernd Leno’s injury back in June.
This will be bad news for a couple of Premier League clubs, with The Independent reporting on Saturday that Aston Villa are preparing a £10million offer.
Additionally, the Daily Mail noted yesterday that Leeds United want to sign Martinez, with Marcelo Bielsa viewing him as a replacement for Kiko Casilla.

The 27-year-old could be first choice at Leeds or even Villa, but is seemingly confident that he will be able to play regularly at Arsenal.
Leno is back from injury and ready to play, but Martinez started ahead of the German against Liverpool on Saturday – and he is seemingly backing himself to keep that spot rather than feel that he has to leave for Leeds, Villa or anybody else.
