Goal claim Arsenal, Chelsea, Wolves and Fulham have all opened talks to sign Palmeiras playmaker Raphael Veiga ahead of the summer window – a player that David Beckham likes, after Inter Miami made an offer back in 2021.

Veiga, 27, is a household name in Brazilian football. Starring for Palmeiras since joining the club in 2016, he has had a hand in 89 goals in 203 games from midfield. Even during a loan at Atletico Paranaense, scoring 10 in 41 games.

Even at this early stage in the 2023 Brazilian campaign, he has scored five and created five in 11 games for his current side. So much so, that European clubs are becoming interested – most notably, from the Premier League.

The report claims that Arsenal, Chelsea, Wolves and Fulham all want to sign the playmaker. It is unclear how much he would cost this summer. But UOL reported in 2021 that Beckham’s Inter Miami made a £10m offer to sign him.

That fee is likely to have risen since Beckham’s side tabled a bid. Indeed, the star midfielder has a contract at the Brazilian side until the end of the 2026 campaign. But the lure of the Premier League is going to test his resolve.

So, if in Veiga’s shoes, what is his best move? If he stays in Brazil then, while he is a fan favourite – he needs to follow his ambition. A move to the Premier League immediately strengthens his claims to win caps for his country.

Arsenal would see him become a squad player, and at Chelsea, he would find plenty of traffic ahead of him. Fulham would be a solid move, under Portuguese boss Marco Silva. But Wolves should be Veiga’s ideal move this summer.
