According to Football.London, Arsenal are genuinely interested in Malang Sarr, but the North London club are not in a position to make him an offer.

Sarr is a free agent at the moment, with the 21-year-old central defender having left French club Nice at the end of this past season.

Football.London has claimed that Arsenal have declared their interest in the youngster, but the Gunners are not in a position at the moment to make an offer to the centre-back despite his status as a free agent.

The report has claimed that Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta wants to sign a left-footed central defender in the summer transfer window, and Sarr fits the bill.

However, according to the report, for the Gunners to bring the Frenchman to the Emirates Stadium in North London, they need to trim the squad, with as many as six centre-backs already at the club.

Stats

According to WhoScored, Sarr made 16 starts and three substitute appearances in Ligue 1 for Nice this past season, scoring one goal in the process.

The centre-back is a very promising young player, and he will only get better in the coming years.
