Arsenal are reportedly set to open talks with midfielder Jack Wilshere.
Bournemouth’s Jack Wilshere in action
According to The Mirror, Arsenal are finally set to open contract talks with midfielder Jack Wilshere amid interest from Bournemouth and West Ham United.
Wilshere, 25, has been on the books since 2001, having joined the Gunners from Luton Town at the age of just nine – and he was touted for stardom as a youngster.
The midfielder became Arsenal’s youngest-ever debutant when he made his bow in 2008, but his career has stalled in recent years, with injuries limiting him to just 105 Premier League appearances in an Arsenal shirt.
This term, Wilshere has been sent out on loan to Bournemouth in order to play first-team football, and he has notched two assists in a total of 24 appearances for the Cherries – and his future with Arsenal remains up in the air.
Wilshere’s contract expires in just over a year’s time, and with The Mirror recently claiming that both Bournemouth and West Ham United want to sign Wilshere this summer, Arsenal are now taking steps to keep the midfielder.
The Mirror now claim that Arsenal are finally opening contract talks with Wilshere, in a bid to prevent him being sold this summer or even losing him on a free transfer when his contract ends in 2018.

Wilshere will reportedly hold talks with Arsenal this week over a new deal, in a move which would all but put an end to Bournemouth and West Ham’s hopes of securing the midfielder’s signature this summer.
Whilst his first-team prospects at the Emirates Stadium are in question due to the likes of Francis Coquelin, Aaron Ramsey and Granit Xhaka, Wilshere could put pen-to-paper on a deal with Arsenal and look to finally fulfil his potential at the Emirates Stadium.
