According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are missing Raul Sanllehi’s understanding of modern-day football even since he left the Emirates.

The Spaniard left the Gunners in August and was replaced by Vinai Venkatesham, according to the BBC.

Sanllehi was responsible for the club-record signing of Nicolas Pepe, which prompted plenty of questions marks and raised eyebrows, as the BBC also state.

It is perhaps too soon to tell if Arsenal are better off without Sanllehi.

However, the Daily Mail believe that the Gunners are, as aforesaid, sorely missing his understanding of today’s game.

Since his August departure, Arsenal have made two very good signings in the shape of Gabriel Magalhaes and Thomas Partey, both of whom are already valued first-team members.

There has been plenty of upheaval at Arsenal this year, and perhaps that is why the club is suffering out on the pitch right now.

That isn’t to say that Sanllehi should be re-appointed. Arsenal’s boardroom members – as well as Arteta – just need time to settle things down and look to build some stability.

Changing things around so often won’t be of any help – the Gunners must allow those at the club to build a similar sense of calm that was often present under Arsene Wenger.
