According to The Sun, Arsenal are competing with Chelsea for Kaan Kurt of Borussia Monchengladbach.

The full-back is not part of the Monchengladbach first team and is playing for Monchengladbach II in the fourth tier of German football.

The 18-year-old, who can operate as a right-back or as a left-back, has played for the Germany youth teams until the Under-19s and three times for the Turkey Under-17 side, and is under contract at Monchengladbach until 2022, according to the report.

The British tabloid has also claimed of interest in the teenager from Fenerbahce and has stated that he will cost £4 million.

One for the future

Kurt is clearly a player who is still developing and progressing, and he is not ready for the first team yet.

However, Arsenal are absolutely right in reportedly identifying players for the future and snapping them up for relatively low fee.

Of course, it would be a gamble for the Gunners to sign a teenager who has no experience whatsoever of first-team football, but for £4 million, they could end up landing a bargain in the long run.
