Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will make a new bid for Manchester United target and Ajax central defender Lisandro Martinez this week, according to The Daily Star.
The Daily Star have reported that Arsenal’s initial bid for Martinez was £35 million, while Manchester United have offered £37 million for the Ajax star.
The Gunners’ bid has been turned down, according to the report, which has added that Arsenal will make an improved offer this week.
Could Arsenal sign Lisandro Martinez?
In our opinion, Arsenal could be able to sign Ajax central defender Lisandro Martinez in the summer transfer window even if Manchester United are keen on the 24-year-old left-footed central defender.

Earlier this week, The Sun reported that Ajax are looking for £45 million as transfer fee for Martinez, described as “a gadget player” who is “someone that is good everywhere” by former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell on The Highbury Squad this week.
So, if Arsenal increase their bid by £10 million, then they should be able to sign Martinez, unless, of course, United decide to do the same.
Martinez made 23 starts and one substitute appearance in the Eredivisie for Ajax last season.
The Argentine scored one goal and gave three assists in those games.
