The Premier League side are working to bolster their defensive ranks this summer.
Marcel Tisserand, right
A report in the Mirror has claimed that Arsenal have approached Monaco about a potential deal for their defender Marcel Tisserand.
The Gunners appear to be working on trying to add depth at the heart of their back-line during the final days of the window, with the Mirror claiming that both Shkodran Mustafi and Jonny Evans are both on Arsene Wenger’s radar.
Valencia’s Shkodran Mustafi has also been on their radar
However, with the World Cup winner commanding an asking price of £50m and the West Brom man having an equally eye-watering £25m price tag slapped on him (via Mirror), it appears that Wenger is preparing to go back to his old club to find the depth he is looking for.
While his lack of experience surely means that he would not command anything like the fees it would reportedly take to sign Mustafi or Evans, signing Tisserand would arguably represent the biggest gamble.

The 23-year-old has struggled to make any major impression at Monaco – having made just six league appearances for the first-team – and has spent the last two years on loan with Toulouse, who have finished both campaigns one place above the relegation zone in Ligue 1.
The Mirror adds that the DR Congo international – who can play in the centre or on the right – has put a proposed move to Espanyol on hold to see if anything happens regarding Arsenal’s interest.
While Wenger’s ability to help youngsters reach their potential means that it would be wrong to write Tisserand off and suggest that he could not be a success at the Emirates – should a move take place – supporters will surely be left disgruntled if he proves to be the man they manage to get through the door as they will know that he will be another player in their squad that will need time to develop, which could prove detrimental to their title hopes.
