Arsenal have approached representatives of the former Nice defender, Malang Sarr, according to The Sun.
However, the newspaper reports that the Gunners’ contact has come ‘too late’, with Germany now a likely destination.
It is claimed that Arsenal have been unable to make ‘firm transfer market decisions’ without knowing whether or not they will compete in Europe next season.
That has apparently seen other clubs ‘steal a march’ on Mikel Arteta’s team in the pursuit of Sarr’s signature.
It is widely reported that Torino have already offered a long-term contract to the 21-year-old, as well as guarantees of regular playing time.
Sarr is a free agent after leaving Nice at the end of last month, although the French side will be entitled to training compensation from the Frenchman’s next club.

Arsenal are ninth in the Premier League table with two games remaining, three points behind sixth-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Arsenal fans – would the Gunners rue not signing Sarr?
