According to Record, Sporting winger Joelson Fernandes is set to sign a new contract with the club after a bid from Arsenail was snubbed.

It’s stated that the 17-year-old will extend his deal until 2025 within the coming hours, with a release clause of around €60million to €80million likely to be included.

Sporting have allegedly received proposals from Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund, but have rejected them in order to push for a new contract.

Having signed his new deal, Joelson will now allegedly make his first-team debut against Gil Vicente on Wednesday, with Sporting now securing his future.

The teenage winger looks to have a huge future ahead of him, impressing predominantly as a left winger who cuts inside onto his right foot to cause havoc.

Joelson has racked up five goals and two assists for Sporting’s Under-23’s this season, which may well have sparked Arsenal’s interest.

Yet whilst they managed to land a talented young attacker in Gabriel Martinelli last summer, Arsenal seemingly won’t have the same success with Joelson.

Joelson may remain on the Arsenal radar over the coming years, but this is one pursuit that must now go on the back burner with their attempts failed.
