CalcioMercato claim Alexis Sanchez is expecting Inter Milan to end his contract a year early, in order to make him a free agent – amid interest from old club Arsenal and Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa this summer.
Sanchez, who turns 34 in December, is about to enter the final year of his contract at Inter Milan. But he started just nine of his 39 appearances last season and Inter need some cash – removing his pay cheque would certainly help.

Reports from CM say that after two years with the Nerrazzuri, 146-time Chile international Sanchez is now expecting Inter to terminate his contract. A fee of £3.5million is needed to end his contract a season early.
It comes after Chilean outlet Le Tercera reported that Arsenal were keeping tabs on a shock return to The Emirates this summer. Meanwhile, Aston Villa are willing to match his £125,000 Inter wages to convince him over a move.

Is it at all realistic to see Sanchez back in the Premier League? His last spell in England’s top tier did not go to plan, struggling at Manchester United. The pace of English football might have just caught up with Sanchez.
Serie A is well-suited to Sanchez at the moment. However, he needs to join a club where he can get regular game time – perhaps a Roma, a Lazio, even a Juventus at the moment. At Inter, he was always going to struggle.
Now, Inter are about to sign Romelu Lukaku on loan from Chelsea. That is only going to push him down the pecking order. Yes, he is likely to be made a free agent – but the chances of a return to England seems unlikely.
