According to RMC Sport, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are still in the race to sign Stade de Reims defender Axel Disasi.

It’s claimed that Disasi has yet to decide his future. England is a serious option, but there is interest in Spain and Germany too.

Arsenal, Spurs and Southampton are thought to be the three English clubs in the race, with Reims demanding €15million (£13million).

That’s a more than reasonable price, but it’s stated that the only offers so far have been some way short of £13million.

Still, there is allegedly real optimism that a big move will materialise this summer, even if clubs may be trying to hold off and tempt Reims into a cheaper deal.

It’s no great surprise that he’s wanted by Arsenal and Spurs. Both teams will have to cut their cloth accordingly this summer, with the global pandemic impacting finances.

Both teams need a new centre back this summer, and £13million shouldn’t break the bank even in these tough times.

Disasi has potential at just 22, and he has impressed for a strong Reims side. The centre back is imposing at 6ft 3in tall, and could develop into a starting defender if brought to England.

Disasi is a name to watch for both Arsenal and Spurs now, but the threat of Southampton swooping in will be hanging over them.
