According to The Telegraph, Ryan Fraser is facing an anxious wait to find a new club due to homegrown quota restrictions.
It’s stated that clubs are prepared to be patient given the global pandemic, and don’t want to dive into deals – especially for players who don’t count as homegrown.
Fraser may be British as a Scotland international, but he came through the Aberdeen ranks. He doesn’t qualify as a homegrown player in the Premier League as a result, and teams are limited to 17 non-homegrown players in their squads.
Teams will be aware of this already, but it may just mean that Fraser isn’t snapped up quite as quickly as many would have first expected.
The 26-year-old is out of contract at Bournemouth this summer, and is set to leave. Fraser doesn’t want to stay on the South Coast, and has plenty of interest.
The Mirror noted that Fraser wants a move to Tottenham, but the Daily Mail believe that Arsenal are confident of winning the race for his signature.

The Mail have added that Newcastle United have joined the battle too. It should be a fierce battle for Fraser’s signature, though his decision to join the agent of Mikel Arteta is very interesting.
If Arsenal can offload some non-homegrown players, signing Fraser may become easier. Tottenham’s position is difficult, as Eric Dier doesn’t count towards the quota despite being English.
Jan Vertonghen and Michel Vorm should leave to ease the issue, but whether they want to spend a non-homegrown spot on Fraser remains to be seen.
