According to The Mirror, Real Madrid have rejected the chance to sign Willian – and both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have financial concerns.
It’s claimed that Zinedine Zidane is an admirer of Willian, and likes him a lot. Still, he allegedly feels that Real shouldn’t join the race to sign him.
Real are ‘reluctant’ to give him the three-year deal he’s looking for, so it seems that he won’t be heading to the Spanish capital any time soon.
The report adds that that both Arsenal and Tottenham may now struggle to sign Willian, with the global pandemic impacting their finances.
This backs up what the Daily Star reported on Sunday, that Tottenham need to sell Erik Lamela in order to fund a deal for Willian.
Both teams have been strongly linked with Willian. The Chelsea star is out of contract this summer, and looks set to leave in search of a three-year deal.

Given that he is now 31, a three-year deal may be too much of a risk for many teams. The financial impact of the pandemic makes such a deal an even bigger commitment, as he would certainly demand high wages.
With Chelsea unlikely to give him a new deal and Real backing away, it does still seem that Arsenal and Spurs will be the teams most regularly linked.
Whether they can pay him what he wants remains to be seen, but Real refusing to move is at least a small boost.
