According to London News Online, Rangers and Arsenal could miss out on Millwall’s Abdul Abdulmalik after he joined Portsmouth on trial.
Abdulmalik is only 18 but finds himself in demand after his contract at Millwall expired on Wednesday.
The striker will now have to decide his future, and has taken a first step by heading to Portsmouth.
Arsenal and Rangers pursue Abdulmalik
Two of the clubs in the market for Abdulmalik are thought to be Arsenal and Rangers, with the Daily Mail reporting their interest.
Both sides have strong youth recruitment and may well see Abdulmalik as a real talent for the future if they can secure him.
As for compensation, Arsenal’s position as a fellow English club means they would have to pay more than Rangers.

Abdulmalik now considering dropping down a division
In a shock move, Abdulmalik has now joined Portsmouth on trial in a shock move that would see him drop to League One.
The England Under-17 international may well feel that a move to Pompey can help him play first-team football at a young age, rather than continue in developmental football with Rangers or Arsenal.
Compensation could be a problem for Pompey though, leaving Arsenal and Rangers with hope of sneaking in with a deal.
