There is speculation that Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United all want to sign Fati from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

According to Fabrizio Romano on Twitter last week, Premier League trio Arsenal, Liverpool and United all are keen on the 20-year-old Spain international forward.

The Italian journalist has reported that the Gunners, the Reds and the Red Devils all are tracking the £199,000-a-week (SalarySport) star.

Stats

The 20-year-old, who can operate down the middle or out wide, has made seven starts and 13 substitute appearances in La Liga for Barcelona so far this season.

Fati has scored three goals and provided three assists in those games.

The Spain international has also made two starts and four substitute appearances in the UEFA Champions League for Barca so far this campaign.

Potential transfer fee: £88m

CBS Sport journalist Ben Jacobs has now provided an update on the situation of Fati.

The journalist has claimed that the forward could cost as much as €100 million (£88 million) in transfer fees.

In a takeover of Romano’s CaughtOffSide column, Jacobs has shared what he knows about the situation of Fati at Barcelona.

Jacobs wrote, as stated in the email newsletter (4:10pm, February 14, 2023): “Barcelona boss Xavi has come out and said that Ansu Fati is not for sale, but sometimes financial needs must.

“Any outgoings this summer will be against the backdrop of Barcelona’s need to cut their wage bill by €150-200m or bring in significant income.

“Fati is by no means one the highest earners at the club, but he’s still on an excellent wage and a young and talented forward who will command a healthy fee.

“Clubs from the Premier League have made contact on the player’s side, which is also why Barcelona are distancing themselves from the speculation because they are not the ones involved in any talks yet.

“It’s very plausible that Fati could cost somewhere in the region of €100m, which would be a club-record for many of the suitors interested and a big price compared to his form right now. A series of knee injuries seem to have affected his overall development.

“But Fati has still got all of the attributes to add goals, dynamism, creativity and versatility to either Barcelona or whatever club he moves on to next. For now, the player simply craves consistent game time.”
