According to The Athletic, Arsenal are already considering sending Runar Runarsson away on loan for the second half of the season.

It’s claimed that Arsenal are willing to send Runarsson on loan to gain first-team experience before heading back in the summer.

Runarsson was allegedly viewed as more of a third-choice goalkeeper at Arsenal, but he was promoted to second-choice when the Gunners couldn’t sign Brentford’s David Raya.

Championship and European clubs are thought to be keen on signing Runarsson on loan, and Arsenal will let him go if they can find a replacement.

This isn’t exactly great for goalkeeping coach Inaki Cana; he wanted Raya having worked together at Brentford and couldn’t sign him, but recommended Runarsson having coached him at Nordsjaelland.

Runarsson made headlines for all the wrong reasons last month, as he let a Riyad Mahrez free kick through his fingers in a 4-1 Carabao Cup defeat to Manchester City.

That game showed that Runarsson isn’t really up to the task of being second choice at Arsenal, which did seem apparent when he was signed from Dijon over the summer.

The 25-year-old wasn’t exactly impressive in France, and Arsenal feeling that he needs more experience at the age of almost 26 doesn’t exactly bode well.
