According to Sky Sports (Transfer Live blog, 4:23pm, February 1, 2021), Arsenal youngster Ainsley Maitland-Niles will join West Bromwich Albion on loan today.
It has been reported that Maitland-Niles, who can operate as a full-back or as a midfielder, will undergo a medical in London in the next few hours ahead of a move to West Brom on loan for the rest of the season.
The Baggies do not want to take the risk of the 23-year-old travelling to the Black Country to start a medical and want to get that side of the deal sorted in London, according to the report.
Good move for Ainsley Maitland-Niles?
According to WhoScored, Maitland-Niles has made five starts and six substitute appearances in the Premier League and has played five times in the Europa League for Arsenal so far this season.
The 23-year-old is a fringe player at Arsenal, and a move to West Brom on loan for the rest of the season would be good for him.
The youngster playing regularly would help his chances of earning a spot in the England squad for the European Championship in the summer of 2021.
