According to the Daily Mail (19/08, p77), Arsenal have secured a deal to sign ex-Tottenham Hotspur defender Jonathan Dinzeyi.

It’s claimed that Dinzeyi is likely to head into the Arsenal development squad, and he isn’t the only young arrival this week.

Winger George Lewis and midfielder Tim Akinola have also joined Arsenal, with their moves confirmed earlier in the week.

Dinzeyi’s move hasn’t been confirmed at the time of writing, but it sounds like the announcement won’t be far away now.

Dinzeyi, 20, came up through the Tottenham ranks, but didn’t make a first-team appearance before being released this summer.

A former England Under-18 international with four caps to his name, Dinzeyi will now be hoping to embarrass Spurs by becoming a first-team ace at Arsenal.

Queens Park Rangers took Dinzeyi on trial earlier this year according to London Football News, but no permanent move materialised.

Instead, Dinzeyi will now be swapping Spurs for Arsenal, and whilst it’s not quite Sol Campbell making the move across North London, some may still be sad to see him head to the Emirates Stadium.
