According to Foot Mercato, Brighton have registered an interest in signing Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi this summer.
It’s claimed that Marseille are favourites for Guendouzi, but there has also been interest from Real Betis, Valencia and Villarreal.
The midfielder appears to have no future under Mikel Arteta, and will be sold now his loan spell at Hertha Berlin over.
Guendouzi’s history with Brighton
To say that this move would be controversial is putting it lightly.
Guendouzi was sent off against Brighton back in June of last year having joked about how much more he earns than Seagulls players, according to the Daily Mail.
Guendouzi even grabbed Brighton striker Neal Maupay by the throat in that game, making himself something of an enemy to Brighton fans and players.
Such a move from Graham Potter would be a surprise, but maybe he feels the talent is too good to pass up.

Impact on Bissouma?
As noted by the Daily Star, Arsenal are hoping to sign Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma this summer having excelled this season.
Bissouma is good friends with Nicolas Pepe and Gabriel Magalhaes from their days at Lille, and he may be the ideal partner for Thomas Partey in midfield.
Brighton may now view Guendouzi as a possible replacement, but Arsenal may well hope that they can send Guendouzi to the South Coast in a swap deal for Bissouma, bringing the rice down.
