Arsenal are now confident that Houssem Aouar will join them before deadline day, as they expect their next offer for him to be accepted, ESPN suggest.
Arsenal saw a bid rejected for Aouar from Lyon this week, with their £35 million offer falling short of the French side’s valuation.
But it seems that Arsenal were just testing the waters, and they plan to up their bid in the coming days.
The Gunners now reportedly believe that they are about to make a breakthrough in a bid to seal Mikel Arteta’s top target, who is said to want a move to North London.
Arteta apparently believes that Aouar can become Arsenal’s version of Kevin de Bruyne, such is his creative skill and level of technical ability.
Aouar is comfortable playing in central midfield or just behind the striker, and the Arsenal boss is massively enthused about the prospect of working with him.

If Aouar does join Arsenal his arrival will create great excitement around the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal have already shown signs that they are continuing to progress under Arteta, and Aouar would only make them an even stronger side.
