According to TYC Sports, Arsenal, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid are in the race for Alexis Mac Allister.

The Argentine outlet report that there is widespread interest in the World Cup winner after his exploits in Qatar, and according to the author of this article on social media, Chelsea are the most interested team with Arsenal and Atletico Madrid trailing in second and third respectively.

Unfortunately for all three sides, they may struggle to get the midfielder out of Brighton in January.

Indeed, this report states that, despite his international heroics, Brighton still hold all of the cards in this situation and the player will only be sold if the Seagulls do decide to let him go.

Chelsea are said to be the most interested team of them all, and it’s not hard to decode why.

The Blues can’t get enough of Brighton’s philosophy at the moment. Not only did they nab Marc Cucurella from the Amex this summer, their manager, Graham Potter is also an ex-Brighton man and he’ll know Mac Allister very well from their time together on the south coast.

Meanwhile, Arsenal could do with a bit more depth in their midfield. Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka aren’t getting any younger, while the ‘brilliant’ Argentine would also be a great rotation option for Martin Odegaard.

As for Atletico Madrid. Diego Simeone’s style of play is very reminiscent of the style Lionel Scaloni has been using for Argentina, so Mac Allister would fit in there, while the fact that Simeone is an Argentine hero in his own right will surely also give him a helping hand in this race.

It looks like Mac Allister may not end up moving in January, but one thing is for sure, he has plenty of suitors away from Brighton and it may just be a matter of time before he gets the chance to play for one of Europe’s, or England’s, elite clubs.
