Nottingham Forest striker expected to depart.

Nottingham Forest could lose striker Apostolos Vellios as the club’s troubles continue.

The Sun report Vellios is wanted by former club Olympiakos, whose owner Evangelos Marinakis was previously in talks about a Forest takeover.

Vellios was left out of the squad for the weekend’s game at Birmingham, but had previously played 22 league games this season, scoring six goals.

Forest’s proposed buyout by American duo John Jay Moores and his associates fell through on Friday, and The Sun‘s report into the financial details make grim reading for Forest fans.

The key on pitch takeaway is that money accrued by Forest from selling Henri Lansbury could go straight towards paying back Moores for funds he had lent current owner Al-Hasawi.

A departure for former Everton youngster Vellios would compound matters, with Forest yet to sign a player so far in the transfer window.

They sit in 20th place in the Championship, just two points above the relegation zone, and sacked boss Philippe Montanier at the weekend.
