According to Football London, Antonio Conte is a huge fan of Barcelona’s Franck Kessie.
The Ivorian midfielder has actually been linked to Spurs for quite some time.
Tottenham Hotspur looked at Kessie earlier this year as his AC Milan contract was winding down, but, as we all know, Barcelona won the race for his signature.
However, with La Blaugrana struggling financially, the Catalan club may now have to contemplate selling Kessie in order to raise funds, and Conte is a fan.
While the Italian may be keen on Kessie, that doesn’t mean that the north London club will be moving for the Ivorian.
Indeed, according to this report a midfield signing isn’t Spurs’ priority this summer with the club more than happy with Rodrigo Bentancur, Oliver Skipp, Yves Bissouma and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg as their midfield options.
However, as the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal have, and may continue to show, injuries can completely change the landscape of the transfer window, and one setback for Spurs could force the club into action.
Although, if Tottenham are to go in for a midfielder, perhaps they would target a player such as Weston McKennie rather than the ‘very special’ midfielder.
It’s been widely reported that Fabio Paratici is a huge fan of McKennie having signed him at Juventus, and as we all know the Sporting Director has the final day when it comes to transfers at Tottenham.
Spurs certainly need new additions next month. Their grip on their place in the top four is slipping rather rapidly, and if they don’t buck up their ideas soon, they will soon be looking over their shoulders and worrying about their European qualification chances.
Perhaps Kessie will be the solution to some of Spurs’ issues, but whether or not he arrives at the club remains to be seen.
