According to Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has asked the club to sign West Ham defender Angelo Ogbonna today.
The Blues have been in the market for a new centre back to boost their defensive options, and whilst Sky Sports report that an approach to re-sign David Luiz has been made, Conte has other targets in mind.

Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Conte has asked Chelsea to sign him a centre back and a central midfielder on deadline day – and whilst the midfielder in question is Inter’s Marcelo Brozovic, the defender is believed to be a Premier League star.
It’s claimed that Conte wants a reunion with West Ham United star Angelo Ogbonna, after the duo worked together with both the Italian national team and Juventus.

Ogbonna, 28, left Juventus for West Ham last summer, and became a key part of Slaven Bilic’s defence, notching 28 Premier League appearances and 34 in all competitions.
After being on the bench for the first two Premier League games of the season, Ogbonna started against Manchester City on Sunday – but the Hammers lost 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium in a disappointing display.

Now, Ogbonna could be offered a surprise move across London, as it’s claimed that Chelsea will be making a deadline day approach for Ogbonna after Conte’s request for the 6ft 3in centre back.
Losing Ogbonna on the final day of the transfer window would be a huge blow for West Ham, and they would surely rebuff any approaches for the player – but with his former manager Conte calling, Ogbonna may be open to joining him at Stamford Bridge.
