Andy Carroll is keen to sign a new deal at West Ham United after his move to a Premier League rival fell through.

After a season that has seen the former Liverpool man score just two goals in the Premier League, Carroll emerged as a surprise target for the champions, with the Mirror reporting that the Blues were considering a £20 million move for the forward.

However, an ankle injury scuppered any hopes Carroll may have had of making a move to Stamford Bridge, and now the Mirror (print edition; 21st January 2018; page 63) has suggested that the Englishman is keen to extend his contract at the London Stadium.
The Telegraph reported last week that Carroll has 18 months left on his current deal with the Irons, so it seems highly likely that the West Ham hierarchy would have soon considered their options regarding the 29-year-old’s future anyway, but it remains to be seen whether they also want to discuss fresh terms.

On his day, Carroll is a brilliant striker to have in the ranks – as he proved in the win over West Brom at the start of January when he turned the game on its head with two goals – but those performances are surely not as common as David Moyes would like.
West Ham’s next game sees them travel to League One leaders Wigan Athletic in the fourth round of the FA Cup – though they will be without Carroll due to his injury.
