A previous report had suggested that Leeds United were ready to part company with Garry Monk in the summer, but perhaps that may not be the case.

A report in the Yorkshire Evening Post has suggested Andrea Radrizzani is not only open to the idea of keeping Garry Monk as Leeds head coach, but he is also willing to consider offering him a longer-term deal than the 12 month option in his current contract.
The Sun recently claimed that Monk was likely to be on his way this summer despite a largely-tremendous first campaign at Elland Road as Radrizzani targeted a major backroom shake-up that involved appointing a foreign head coach.
However, the Yorkshire Evening Post are now suggesting that the Italian – who currently co-owns the club alongside Massimo Cellino – is actually open to giving Monk a new deal, rather than just triggering the option that would see his contract extended until next summer.
But the Yorkshire Evening Post also suggests that even if Monk is offered a brand new longer-term deal, he is unlikely to receive a substantial pay rise with his wages already at a decent level by Championship standards.

While some Leeds fans are understandably angry at how the season has finished – the Whites went into the previous international break in a position looking to be almost assured of a play-off spot, but a torrid run has seen those hopes all but dashed heading into the final day – the majority would surely admit that keeping Monk would be one of the best pieces of business the club could do all summer.
Monk appears to be building something at Leeds much more impressive than any of his predecessors managed since Simon Grayson’s tenure came to an end, and letting him go would surely be an incredibly unpopular decision amongst a large portion of the fans and the players.
