Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama ended up staying put on deadline day.

According to RMC Sport, Marseille wanted to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama on deadline day, but no deal was done,
Wanyama, 28, may have been important for Mauricio Pochettino at Southampton and in their first season back together at Spurs, but he has fallen well out of favour.
The Kenyan powerhouse has struggled for form and fitness in the last two years, and he is now well down the pecking order under Pochettino.
Many thought he would leave the club on deadline day, with Club Brugge and Celtic touted, but the European deadline passed without any deal done for Wanyama.
Now, it’s claimed that Marseille wanted to land Wanyama, but just as they couldn’t land Nantes ace Valentin Rongier, they couldn’t get Wanyama either.
Marseille are now managed by Andre Villas-Boas, and he was seemingly keen to raid his former club to lure Wanyama over to France.

They offloaded Luiz Gustavo to Fenerbahce and had seemingly wanted Wanyama to replace him, but he’s now facing months on the sidelines at Spurs instead.
Spurs may be jus as frustrated as Marseille and Villas-Boas that a deal didn’t get done, but there may well be some interest in his signature in January after a late flurry of suitors this time around.
