According to France Football, Napoli have jumped ahead of Everton in the race for Lille’s Gabriel Magalhaes.

The Toffees have been heavily linked with a move for the Brazilian defender for a while now. The Independent claimed last month that Gabriel had completed his medical at Everton ahead of a potential £30 million move.

However, with football at a standstill due to everything that has been going on in the world, Carlo Ancelotti could miss out on the defender with his former club reportedly leading the chase.

Napoli are almost guaranteed to lose Kalidou Koulibaly this summer. The Senegalese international is viewed as one of the best defenders in world football and a number of top sides are said to be interested in his services.

Everton too were linked with a big-money move for Koulibaly (Le10 Sport) but that looks unlikely at this point.

France Football now claim that a deal for Gabriel could be closed for just £22.5 million, £7.5 million less than what was initially reported.

A move for Gabriel looked a very serious possibility a few weeks ago. However the rumours have quietened down and it looks like Ancelotti will miss out on his primary target to the club that sacked him not too long ago.
