According to Calciomercato, Everton are interested in signing Fiorentina midfielder Gaetano Castrovilli – but a deal may only happen in 2021.
It’s claimed that Carlo Ancelotti is looking to the Italian market this summer. After all, he knows plenty about the players back in his homeland.
Of course, Marcel Brands will have a huge say in Everton’s dealings, but Ancelotti allegedly want Fiorentina star Castrovilli.
The report notes that Everton are rivalling Inter Milan and Juventus for his signature. However, Fiorentina consider him ‘untransferable’ until next summer.
That means Everton may struggle to tempt them into selling this summer. The global pandemic may yet impact Fiorentina’s stance, but as things stand, Ancelotti may have to wait.
The 23-year-old midfielder has impressed this season, notching three goals and two assists. Predominantly a creative midfielder, Castrovilli can play as a number 10 or on the left flank.

Skilful and technically-gifted, Castrovilli has been tipped for a huge future. With Gylfi Sigurdsson struggling this season, the Italian may well be viewed as his long-term replacement.
With FC Inter News noting in January that Tottenham want Castrovilli, Everton could face a real battle for his signature – but it sounds like the race will only really reach its conclusion in 2021.
