Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti wanted to sign Florian Neuhaus for Everton and could now attempt to bring the Borussia Monchengladbach star to La Liga, as reported by Defensa Central.
As the Toffees slumped to a tenth-place finish, losing at home to Sheffield United, Fulham, Burnley and more, the need for an inventive, intuitive, defence-splitting midfielder became painfully clear.
Unfortunately for Everton, their hopes of signing one of Europe’s most gifted, up-and-coming playmakers seem to have followed Ancelotti out the door.

Reports coming out of Madrid say the 62-year-old wanted Neuhaus at Goodison Park.
An elegant, intelligent, forward-thinking number eight, the Germany international looks exactly the sort of player who could turn those drab defeats into hard-fought draws or narrow wins, while easing the crushing burden of responsibility on James Rodriguez.
According to Defensa Central, however, Neuhaus won’t be joining Everton now.
That’s not to say Ancelotti is destined to take Gladbach’s 24-year-old schemer to the Santiago Bernabeu either.
Bayern in pole position for Neuhaus?
Neuhaus may have played down reports linking him with an imminent move to Bayern Munich last week but, behind the scenes, negotiations with the Bundesliga champions appear to have reached an advanced stage.
Ancelotti isn’t giving up on Neuhaus just yet.
But, after learning the one-time 1860 Munich star has “practically” agreed a return to Bavaria, the returning Real Madrid boss has little choice but to consider alternatives.
