According to Foot Mercato, Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti must convince sporting director Marcel Brands over the potential signing of Thiago Silva.
The Brazil international’s contract at Paris Saint-Germain is set to expire.
His current £240,000 per week wages has prompted question marks over his future.

Foot Mercato claims Silva has the backing of manager Thomas Tuchel over a one-year extension. However, sporting director Leonardo is reluctant to agree without a significant wage drop.
Silva has largely been a regular at PSG this season despite turning 35 years of age.
The 89-capped central defender has helped the Paris club win multiple trophies since arriving from AC Milan, including seven league titles.
But his time in the French capital is seemingly coming to an end.
Foot Mercato say that Everton are keen and Ancelotti has called Silva over a potential move.
But the Italian coach must convince sporting director Marcel Brands over a move. Both Silva’s age and wages don’t exactly fit the club’s philosophy.
Silva has played under the guidance of Ancelotti before both in Milan and Paris. He holds the Everton boss in high esteem, claiming the Italian coach changed his life.
Everton must look to strengthen their defence. Yerry Mina and Michael Keane have both endured inconsistent campaigns at Goodison Park this term.
With 46 Premier League goals conceded in 29 games, the Toffees will surely act this summer.
But Silva may be a difficult and questionable target to land despite his evident quality.
