According to Football London, Tottenham have completed the signing of Josh Keeley, with a deal for Yves Bissouma also close to completion.
What’s the story?
Well, the big story of the day is that Spurs have agreed a £25m deal to sign Bissouma from Premier League rivals Brighton, with a five-year contract on the table.
However, in a detailed piece on Tottenham’s transfer activity, Football London‘s Alasdair Gold revealed that the north Londoners have also snapped up the promising 19-year-old goalkeeper.
Keeley will join from St Patrick’s Athletic shortly, and arrives at Hotspur Way in the wake of five goalkeepers being released across various age ranks.
The teenager represents the Republic of Ireland at Under-19 level, and while he isn’t expected to be near the first-team anytime soon, it shows that Spurs aren’t just focusing on the present.
Of course, we aren’t expecting many Tottenham supporters to care about this news following the Bissouma story, although it should certainly encourage the fanbase to see Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici eyeing young talent.
Josh Keeley has a bright future at Tottenham
Too often, we see young talents join the leading Premier League clubs, only to fizzle out in the reserves.
However, we believe Keeley could have a future in N17.
Tottenham don’t exactly have a long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris already on the books, with the 34-year-old Fraser Forster recently arriving as backup.
Spurs also have a strong youth set-up, which has produced talents such as Dane Scarlett and Dilan Markanday in recent times.
In the past, it has even produced a player who is arguably the best striker in Europe – Harry Kane.
It goes without saying that Keeley needs to bide his time, but if he works hard and fulfils his vast potential, he certainly has a chance of making it at Tottenham.
