Sammy Ameobi is heading for the exit at Newcastle United, say reports.

The Northern Echo have reported that Sammy Ameobi’s future lies away from Newcastle United.
The 24-year-old forward looked at one stage to be the real deal but a loan to Championship side Cardiff City has stifled that optimism somewhat.
It was Steve McClaren who loaned him to the Welsh side but Rafael Benitez’s arrival in March has given fringe players a blank canvas of sorts.

Ameobi, who has netted twice in 53 Premier League appearances for Newcastle, featured in an Under-23 win over Barnsley recently, but the Northern Echo report that he is likely to leave St James’s Park this month.
He did not have the most productive of seasons with Cardiff, scoring once and setting up three goals in 36 Championship outings – statistics which hardly make him hot property.

Still, Newcastle fans might be sad to see him go even if he is unable to contribute to the cause of winning promotion. He has been at the club since he was 17 and always looked to give everything for the shirt, when he played.
Benitez has 21 days in which to offload the winger.
