Report: Amanda Staveley to increase Newcastle United’s January transfer budget to £40m

Amanda Staveley is still negotiating a deal to buy Newcastle United from Mike Ashley.

According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Amanda Staveley has changed her mind over Newcastle United’s transfer budget, and will now offer Rafael Benitez £40 million, if she takes over.

The Daily Mail initially suggested that Staveley would spend £30 million in the transfer window, if she took over before the new year.

However, the Mirror suggest that the businesswoman is now prepared to inject an extra £10 million into the club.

Newcastle have been struggling for wins of late, and Benitez is known to want to add quality at St. James’ Park.

The Magpies have failed to win any of their last nine matches, with their lack of options clearly a concern.

Newcastle’s organisation has been good, but they have lacked quality at either end of the pitch.

Benitez’s side are now in 18th place in the Premier League table, with concerns rising that they could be relegated.

Staveley is still expected to take over at Newcastle before the January transfer window opens, but there is some work to done before a deal with Mike Ashley becomes possible.
