According to the Daily Mail, West Bromwich Albion are eager to snap up Middlesbrough winger Duncan Watmore on a free transfer.
Watmore joined Middlesbrough on a free transfer over the summer, having left local rivals Sunderland at the end of his contract.
Neil Warnock handed him a deal until January 17th, and Watmore has responded with five goals in eight Championship games.
Watmore’s firm means Middlesbrough now risk losing him on a free transfer in just a matter of weeks, and he could end up in the Premier League.
Boro have offered him an extension, but a move to West Brom could be appealing given the double reunion potentially on offer.
Sam Allardyce coached him at Sunderland and is thought to be a big fan, whilst Allardyce’s assistant – Robbie Stockdale – also knows him from his time at Wearside.
Premier League rivals Burnley also want to sign the 26-year-old, but West Brom may hope the lure of Allardyce and Stockdale is telling.
Watmore would give West Brom another goal threat in the final third as they attempt to stay in the Premier League, and he would come without breaking the bank too.
