Sam Allardyce reportedly wants to reunite with Craig Shakespeare at Everton.
According to The Telegraph, Sam Allardyce wants to bring in Craig Shakespeare as his new assistant manager should he land the job at Everton.
The Toffees sacked manager Ronald Koeman last month after a dismal start to the season, but fortunes haven’t exactly improved under caretaker boss David Unsworth.
Thursday’s 5-1 Europa League defeat to Atalanta was an embarrassment, whilst Everton were also shambolic in the 4-1 loss at Southampton on Sunday afternoon, which appears to have sparked urgent action at Goodison Park.
Sam Allardyce is back in the frame to replace Koeman, with Everton seemingly hoping to bring in ‘Big Sam’ to save them from relegation, as he has done with many clubs throughout his lengthy managerial career.
The Telegraph also report that Allardyce has an assistant in mind already, as he wants to reunite with former Leicester City boss Craig Shakespeare, should he be appointed at Everton.
Shakespeare lost his job as Leicester boss last month after a less-than-impressive start to the season, but he has been a well-respected coach for a number of years now.
Allardyce added Shakespeare to his coaching staff during his short-lived tenure as England manager, and with both men out of work and seeking Premier League returns, a reunion could be on the cards.
Bringing in a duo who ended last season as Premier League managers could be appealing for Everton, who appear to be looking for experience to get them out of the disastrous situation they find themselves in.
