Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson is nearing a return to action.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson is impressing staff ahead of his return to action – but it may only come after the international break.
Alisson, 26, was a key part of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side last season, and many were backing him to have another strong campaign this term.
However, the Brazilian suffered a calf injury in the first half of the opening day clash with Norwich City, and he hasn’t been able to play since, meaning he’s been out for almost two months now.
Adrian has filled in admirably between the sticks, but Liverpool fans are no doubt hoping to see Alisson return soon – and he’s getting closer and closer to making his comeback.
It’s believed that Alisson will return to full training this week, having already impressed staff with how he has performed in goalkeeping drills and how he’s responded to treatment.
However, he won’t be facing Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League or Leicester City in the Premier League, meaning a decision will be taken later this month on whether he starts against Manchester United.
The £90,000-a-week star (Spotrac) would be welcomed back against United even though Klopp is understood to be ‘delighted’ with how Adrian has been performing since coming into the side.
He’s not quite Alisson though, and with Liverpool still boasting a 100% record in Premier League action this season, adding the Brazilian back in makes the Reds even more scary.
