Sunderland are yet again searching for another new manager after sacking Simon Grayson.
According to The Telegraph, Alex McLeish and Paul Lambert are both expected to be in the running for the Sunderland job following Simon Grayson’s departure.
Sunderland drew 3-3 at home with Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday night, as two major issues for the Black Cats – their home form and their defensive frailty – were on show yet again.
Just five minutes after the final whistle at the Stadium of Light, Sunderland decided to sack manager Simon Grayson, just four months after prising him away from Championship rivals Preston North End.
Sunderland are now looking for yet another new manager, with a host of names already linked with the position – and two more managers can now be added to the list.
The Telegraph report that Alex McLeish and Paul Lambert are expected to be in the running for the job, with both Scots looking to get back into management.
McLeish, 58, has been out of management since leaving Egyptian side Zamalek in May 2016, and may look to make his first return to managing in Britain for the first time since departing Nottingham Forest in February 2013.
Meanwhile, fellow Scot Lambert is out of a job having been replaced as Wolverhampton Wanderers boss back in May, with the 48-year-old offering real Championship experience if the Black Cats plump for him.
Both managers have taken charge of Premier League clubs in recent memory, meaning they can offer impressive CV’s to Sunderland, but much will depend on the budget being offered at the Stadium of Light.
