Tottenham Hotspur finished two places and four points above Manchester United in the Premier League table this season.
Sir Alex Ferguson feels ‘isolated’ at Manchester United after they ignored his calls to appoint Tottenham Hotspur’s Mauricio Pochettino as their manager, according to a report.
The Daily Mail have claimed that is one of the reasons why the Premier League legend feels ‘out of touch’ at Old Trafford following his retirement in 2013.
It is said that Ferguson felt that Tottenham’s highly-rated coach Pochettino was the ‘best available’ for the role at United, which was subsequently given to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Norwegian was initially given the job on a temporary basis, and things began well, including beating Tottenham at Wembley, but performances and results fell the other way towards the end of the season.
Tottenham and Pochettino will be preparing for the Champions League final which takes place in Madrid at the start of next month, but it seemingly looks like United are far, far away from reaching those days again.
Whilst Spurs finished in the top-four at the end of the Premier League season, United ended their campaign in sixth place and a defeat to relegated Cardiff on the last day of the season.
Pochettino has rightly been applauded for the job he has done in North London and he will be hoping to add a trophy to his name.
If he were to achieve that then it’ll no doubt be one of the great achievements in recent times because the Argentine hasn’t worked with much in recent transfer windows.
But Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool stand in their way of glory as an English team is set to walk away with the European Cup in their hands at the end of the night.
