Tottenham Hotspur are still miles away from signing Joe Rodon from Swansea City as the domestic transfer deadline edges closer, Football London report.
Tottenham have been chasing the Swansea centre-back ever since a move for Milan Skriniar didn’t pay off.
However, Spurs are not willing to meet Swansea’s £20 million asking price and the Welsh side do not seemingly want to sell the 22-year-old on the cheap.
As a result, it seems unlikely that Spurs will be able to pull off the signing before today’s transfer deadline, unless something drastic changes.
Tottenham also are believed not to have an alternative target in mind, so Jose Mourinho may have to go without another central defender at least until January.

That may be a slight disappointment to the Portuguese boss, who was hoping to bring in a replacement for Jan Vertonghen, but he will still surely feel pleased with Tottenham’s overall business.
Spurs have signed brilliantly over the summer, with the Lilywhites upgrading in almost every position.
And Tottenham have already seen the benefit of their recruitment drive, with Mourinho’s side making a highly encouraging start to the campaign.
