QPR star Charlie Austin is reportedly being targeted by Newcastle United, Southampton, West Ham United, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Chelsea and Crystal Palace.
Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew is struggling to convince the club’s board to make a move for Queens Park Rangers forward Charlie Austin this summer, according to The Mirror.
It has been reported by the British newspaper that Palace manager Pardew wants to sign the Englishman and is ready to pay the £15 million that he would cost.
However, the London club’s board are not willing to splash that much cash on Austin, with The Mirror reporting that the Eagles bosses “believe that valuation is too high”.
Good news for Newcastle United?
This will be good news for Newcastle United, who are reportedly keen on signing Austin from Championship outfit QPR this summer.
According to The Sun, the 25-year-old forward is the Magpies’ top target, although a number of other clubs are also said to be interested in his services.
Southampton, West Ham United and Aston Villa all want Austin, according to The Mirror, while The Telegraph recently reported of English champions Chelsea’s interest in the Englishman.
According to a report in The Northern Echo last week, Liverpool have already made contact with the former Swindon Town forward’s representatives.
Austin would be a brilliant signing for Newcastle, given his impressive performances in the recently concluded 2014-15 campaign.
The QPR forward scored 18 goals and created 23 chances in 35 Premier League appearances.
The Englishman had a pass accuracy of 66% and a shot accuracy of 67%, and won 86 headers, 15 dribbles and 16 tackles.
