West Bromwich Albion appear to be heading towards the Championship, but Alan Pardew is reportedly not expecting the sack.

According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (01/04; page 57), Alan Pardew currently believes that he is set to be West Brom boss next season, even with relegation to the Championship looking set to be on the cards.

The Baggies appear to be heading for relegation out of the Premier League. Following their 2-1 defeat to Burnley on Saturday, they are 10 points off safety with just six games to go. They have won just three games all season, and just one since Pardew replaced Tony Pulis.

Unsurprisingly, a large section of the supporters hope to see Pardew replaced in the summer – probably at the latest – but it appears that those disgruntled fans may not get what they hope for.

According to The Sun on Sunday (01/04; page 57), Pardew believes that he could still be in charge of the club next season and has been conducting some scouting across Europe in an attempt to identify some potential targets for the summer.

Should Pardew carry on?

Admittedly, it was never the easiest of circumstances that faced Pardew when he arrived at The Hawthorns and he was not given a significant amount of funds to spend during the January transfer window – though he was able to bring Daniel Sturridge in from Liverpool on loan.

However, some of the tactical decisions he has made during his tenure have often seemed baffling, and discipline appears to have been an issue. It would appear therefore, to be a major risk to keep the manager for next season.

Unfortunately for some West Brom fans, it appears that keeping him may be exactly what the club decides to do.
